It has been about 8 years since I have been working with Matt Parker & the Album Surfboards crew, Have to say the ride has exceeded all expectations, functionality and progression are equal to the craftsmanship & esthetics of these beautiful surfboards. Mike Townsend / business development at Album decided to finally head down to get a glimpse of a solid swell in the Atlantic basen. His goal was to explore the Caribbean via the island of Puerto Rico. Knowing the similarities with in the latin culture he recruited Victor Bernardo to mingle amongst the locals & see how this Brazilian prodigy would perform in the wave rich environment.
Also joining us on the trip was local surfer Alejandro Moreda a new comer to the Album experience. Needles to say, Ale is a shoe in to test boards with his smooth approach to rails surfing & vast knowledge of the place. “It’s incredible how much hold the Twinsman has. Specially in solid waves, The paddle power is second to none!” He has been rocking the Bom Dia as a daily go to. “This board model has to be one of the coolest boards I’ve ever ridden. The grip it has makes you feel like the board is stuck to your feet and you can’t go wrong”.
Looking at Victor surf a wide range of boards with his natural approach to stylish yet innovative surfing is refreshing. It’s a true joy to share waves in our own back yard, not to mention how fun it to ride all kinds of conditions with the unconventional equipment, the response is surprising. You can tap in to your own rhythmic zone no matter what level your surfing is.
Given the opportunity to try alternative boards has opened up my approach to surfing. It has allowed me to think of creative way’s to manifest my interpretation in a more mature way. The fundamental surfing and relevancy are more or less what it was before. Think about it, a good session is about being in sync with the ocean and how you can play amongst the chaos. My new short term goal is to surf a wave better than I have ever surfed a wave before.
